SpaceX just filed for IPO…
…and honestly it looks like Elon forgot he builds rockets 😅
I was reading the filing with a nice tea last night and had to double-check the title a few times. Because this is not really a “space company” anymore.
It’s a gigantic AI + infrastructure machine where rockets almost feel like a side quest.
A few things from the filing are absolutely surreal:
– Of ~$10B spent in Q1 2026, around $7.7B reportedly went into AI compute. Rockets? Around $1B. Space is literally cheaper than AI now.
– Elon gets a Mars bonus of 1 BILLION shares if 1 million people reach Mars… but only if he’s still officially employed there 🤡 Imagine the HR review.
– xAI burned ~$6.4B in 2025 on ~$3.2B revenue. Turns out “building superintelligence” is not a cheap hobby.
– Anthropic is apparently paying Musk ~$1.25B/month for compute. Yes, the same Anthropic he publicly warned humanity about. Ethics become very flexible near GPUs. And around Elon ethics is a forbidden word.
– Starlink quietly became the adult in the room: 10.3M subscribers, ~$11.4B revenue, around 70% of total incoming revenue. Without those satellite dishes this filing would look… emotionally unstable.
– Their TAM slide claims a $28.5 TRILLION market opportunity. For context, that’s basically the size of the US economy. And most of it is AI, not space.
Funny thing – we grew up expecting flying cars.
Instead we got:
one man controlling rockets, AI infrastructure, satellite internet, social media, and maybe the largest compute empire on Earth. Oh… And that is this guy.
This is not a normal IPO anymore.
It’s beginning to look like a sovereign techno-state with quarterly earnings.
I still can’t decide if this is genius, madness, or simply what late-stage capitalism looks like with GPUs.
Curious – what’s the weirdest part of this filing to you? Talk to me about that.
