Every startup logo suddenly looks like it belongs in a 1970s nightclub šŖ©
Oh, man, Iām tired of that š
Spotify changes its icon into a disco ball for one marketing campaignā¦
and suddenly half the tech industry starts chrome-plating their interfaces like Studio 54 exploded inside Figma.
Notion.
GitHub.
Lovable.
Half of Twitter/X.
Everything became reflective, shiny, āAI aestheticā, unreadable.
The internet even gave it a name:
āDiscomorphism.ā
And yes, GPT Image 2 replicates it perfectly.
Thatās not even the interesting part anymore.
The interesting part is how fast design trends spread now.
One designer changes their playlist to Bee Geesā¦
and suddenly millions of users need to relearn interfaces they already paid for š¤”
And this is where I become grumpy as an old 37 y.o. man I can afford that.
There are MANY people who genuinely struggle when interfaces constantly change.
Older people.
ADHD users.
Overworked people.
Non-tech people.
People simply tired of digital overstimulation.
Iām in that group myself.
I do not want to re-learn app icons every two weeks because some gen-Z audience flirting startup discovered āretro-futuristic chrome vibes.ā
I pay for stability too. Not only for āengagement.ā
Funny thing ā tech companies keep talking about accessibilityā¦
while redesigning perfectly functional interfaces into shiny visual puzzles nobody asked for. NOBODY!
The AI era is making this even faster. Because now aesthetics replicate overnight.
One trend appears⦠AI generates infinite variationsā¦
and suddenly every product starts looking like the same disco hallucination. A wave of unreadable icons⦠Virus.
Maybe Iām becoming old.
Or maybe digital products should stop behaving like fashion collections changing every season. We as a humans still value stability.
Anyway.
If your startup logo still looks readable today:
congratulations.
You survived another design cycle šŖ©
